Some relatives bought me a copy of Night of the Living Dead when I turned 9 and that was it.

NotLD was one of my first favourites too.

Wow, those both sound like really intense experiences! Back in high school I had a friend who was playing with one and the board told her that her estranged, mentally ill father was going to murder her. It never came to be true, however the fear made her life hell for quite some time. I haven't played with one since.

I had two different experiences with ouija boards and none of them were really pleasant

Now you've piqued my interest. Care to share your stories?

Oh, wow! I haven't seen those books in years! Memories...

The illustrations used to scare the hell out of me when I was a kid.

Ah, yes, Goosebumps. R. L. Stine books were the second thing in the horror genre to pique my interest. Then as I grew up I graduated to reading Poe, King and Lovecraft.

What first peaked your interest in the horror genre? For me, it was watching Canadian kids shows like Hilarious House of Frightenstein and Are You Afraid of the Dark.

I saw a commercial for this a week or two ago and thought that it was a really interesting concept for a show. I'm glad to hear that it's good so far. I'll be sure to check it out now that I can be sure that it won't be a waste of my time.

I'm not sure how I feel about this movie being remade............. but I love Diablo Cody.

I picked up Carrie and Alien on sale for $7 each the other day. I'm almost ashamed to admit that I didn't own them already, however I refuse to pay full price for DVDs these days so I buy things as I come across them in 'sale' bins. You can find some great deals if you're willing to wait.

I was really impressed with BEHIND THE MASK when I first saw it: what a clever -- yet still highly entertaining -- deconstruction of the slasher genre. Easily one of the most creative films to emerge within the past decade of horror.

My thoughts exactly. It's so clever on so many levels and when I first saw it I was really impressed by its original take and perspective compared to other films in the horror genre that were coming out around the same time. Also, it's a great horror film in its own right, but even more fun to watch if you're an avid fan of the genre.

The opening credits for True Blood were made by a company called Digital Kitchen who did the opening credits for Dexter and Six Feet Under as well. They are absolutely amazing at what they do. The American Horror Story credits are extremely well done too. They really convey the themes of horror and tension in the show and 'set the mood'. I think the music is what really does it for me.

I re-watched Friday the 13th and Behind the Mask this weekend. They're both such great films that I like to re-visit them every few months.

I really loved the first season of this show. The character development is great and the writing is thoughtful and deliberate. The plot development draws you in in a way that most television shows aren't able to do. It's also got a very genuine 'creep factor' that make me slightly uncomfortable if I'm alone at night. I'm looking forward to the next season. I've read that they're starting from scratch with the main characters and the plot but using the house again.
