American Horror Story
« on: March 06, 2012, 10:11:40 AM »
It took me about half a dozen episodes to decide how I felt about the show, but after watching the first season, AMERICAN HORROR STORY is easily something I would recommend to any horror fan. Well written, compelling horror drama which draws heavily upon several (wait for it) influential American horror films, including: The Shining, The Amityville Horror, House on Haunted Hill, 13 Ghosts, Beetlejuice, and more. Honestly, the show has a lot to offer -- everything from excellent character development, to just downright spooky and atmospheric scenes.

Who here has seen some (or all) of the series?
Keep it bloody, keep it sick, and keep the gore flowing!

I really loved the first season of this show. The character development is great and the writing is thoughtful and deliberate. The plot development draws you in in a way that most television shows aren't able to do. It's also got a very genuine 'creep factor' that make me slightly uncomfortable if I'm alone at night. I'm looking forward to the next season. I've read that they're starting from scratch with the main characters and the plot but using the house again.

The 1st season was great and I have faith that the new one will also be at the very least watchable. I love how FX is stretching the boundaries as to what is acceptable in terms of violence and sexuality on the ole televison.

The title credits are fantastic. I just thought I'd add that. The music and sounds throw you into the atmosphere and prepare you for what you are about to watch.

Everytime I watched it I kept thinking it was the longest opening credits ever!!! Even longer than True Blood.

True Blood had some great opening credits as well. In both cases, the music represents the show really well.

The opening credits for True Blood were made by a company called Digital Kitchen who did the opening credits for Dexter and Six Feet Under as well. They are absolutely amazing at what they do. The American Horror Story credits are extremely well done too. They really convey the themes of horror and tension in the show and 'set the mood'. I think the music is what really does it for me.
