Evil Dead Remake
« on: March 07, 2012, 10:19:27 AM »
Anyone keeping up on this one? So far, only one location image from the upcoming remake has surfaced:

The screenplay was rewritten by Oscar-winner Diablo Cody (Jennifer's Body), and so far is billing Jane Levy, Shiloh Fernandez and Lou Taylor Pucci as the stars of the film. Not too much else has been revealed, except obviously this one will be shot on an exponentially higher budget than Sam Raimi's original classic, which will most likely give it that sleak, polished Hollywood look.

Production was/is supposed to begin this month, with an April 2013 release.
Keep it bloody, keep it sick, and keep the gore flowing!

Making remakes of films loved by so many almost always ends up a disaster since most people see no way to improve it, which is usually the case as no one remakes shit movies, so no matter what they do the best they can hope for is for fans to like it as much as the original or at least attract people who haven't seen the original, though it seems they are trying to get around it by making it less a remake and more a film that uses the same plot device as seen as that ash is a teenage girl or something in this one. I'm not sure if this way of going about it is better or not.

It'll be interesting to see how the movie turns out, that's for sure.

I'm kinda looking forward to it - and I will inevitably see it.

Unfortunately, due to fans like us - due to our undying demand to see films and love horror, we WILL see this film and we can either like it or hate it.

Either way, the studio gets their money and they could care less what happens afterwards.

I think I would rather them make remakes of shitty films that had potential, at least then if it sucks I wont have to drink the memory of it away.

I can't argue with that logic.

But we'll see what happens when we inevitably go see it. Maybe we'll be surprised?

I was pleasantly surprised with The Last house on the left. It was very different in atmosphere, yet it was extremely good on its own.

Some remakes can be really good. We'll see.
