The Walking Dead

First: If you're going to post spoilers, please give a fair warning for all.

Now that that's settled, I'll start off by saying I am a huge fan of the comic book. A HUGE fan. When I found out the TV show was going to happen, I danced around in girlish glee.

Now that the show has began its second season, I'm not really caring for it much anymore.

Whether you're a fan of the comic or haven't read a single issue, the problem lies with the writing.

They've dinked around at Herschel's farm for the entire season - and while them leaving isn't quite in the series' budget - zombies should be.

The first episode of the second season featured an overwhelming group of zombies. Following that, somehow, the open field of farm has been a safe house for everyone (save last week's episode).

The characterization is starting to feel completely out of control with irrational decisions (Lori driving off to find Rick?) and it leaves me, the viewer, frustrated.

Either way, I figure we could at least generate some discussion about the episodes here. If we want to go into the comics, just forewarn people because there's tons of spoiler-heavy material in there (even though the show has drastically veered away from the comics).

So! What have you?

Didn't get a chance to see the episode last night. After the previous week's episode, I'm curious to see what direction the group is headed in, though...

I haven't read the comic but I'm assuming it's better than the show. I highly respect all of the work that everyone has done on that show especially in regards to special effects. I've only seen the first 4 or so episodes but left by myself to watch it, I haven't done so yet. I don't like the feelings it gives me, if that makes sense. I feel like I'm forced to feel certain emotions that I don't care to feel when watching zombies. That's just my opinion and let me state how well that show is created nonetheless!

Believe it or not, I still haven't seen the last two episodes of the second season. Someone told me about it, then I just synced it up with what happened in the comics, leaving me pretty content.

Albeit, what is happening in the TV series is getting pretty far off from the comics. While I completely agree for the show to do it, I just found, unlike the comics, the show lost steam in a few episodes trying to drag stuff out. They definitely could take little snippets from the comics to fill the gaps.

Either way, I'm just glad to have a show like that on TV.

The second season moved pretty slow, with them staying at the barn the entire time and looking for damn Sophia. The final made up for it though, it was intense and added more layers to the show. Got me excited to see what it has planned for the next season.

I agree with your take on the second season. I really hope they pick up a lot of the pacing from the book.

Given they aren't necessarily following the stories from the comic series, they may as well blitz through as much as they can to really pick up the slack from the second season.
